Rumer Willis Hits Back at Critics of Breastfeeding Two-Year-Old Daughter

Rumer Willis has responded to criticism after sharing a photo of herself breastfeeding her two-year-old daughter, Louetta. The 37-year-old actor posted an Instagram Story on Thursday showing her lying on a couch while nursing her toddler, whom she calls 'Lou.'

'For the haters who come at me about breastfeeding my 2 yr old,' she wrote over the image. 'I hope you have a blessed day.' This is not the first time Willis has addressed the topic; in 2023, she replied to commenters questioning why she posted nursing photos, saying simply, 'Cause I want to.'

Another critic accused Willis of sharing the image 'for attention,' arguing that nursing should be private. Willis fired back, calling breastfeeding a 'privilege' and describing the remark as reflecting 'a limited view' of motherhood. The American Academy of Pediatrics and the World Health Organization recommend exclusive breastfeeding for about six months, with continued breastfeeding alongside other foods until age two or older.

Willis, the eldest daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, shares Louetta with her ex-boyfriend, singer Derek Richard Thomas. She has previously discussed her close-knit family, including co-sleeping with her daughter. In a podcast in April, she said, 'I co-sleep with Louetta and have not spent a night away from her since she was born,' defending the practice by comparing it to other mammals.
