Ruby Wax Slams Shona McGarty's 'Entitlement' Over Jungle Butter Scandal
Ruby Wax: Shona McGarty Shows 'Entitlement' in Jungle

Comedian Ruby Wax has launched a scathing critique of her former I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! campmate, Shona McGarty, accusing the actress of developing a surprising sense of 'entitlement' during their time in the Australian jungle.

The Secret Butter Scandal

The controversy stems from an incident where Shona McGarty, 34, secretly used a packet of butter smuggled into camp by fellow contestant AngryGinge. The butter was classed as contraband by producers, and Shona did not share it with the other celebrities, an act for which she was later punished.

Speaking to the Daily Mail after becoming the fifth contestant voted off the ITV show on Wednesday night, Ruby Wax, 72, gave her candid opinion. 'Shona I didn't think was, you know she was an insecure, kind of anxious person, and now she's come out of herself, and she's verging on, kind of, entitlement,' Ruby stated. 'She started off as a really shy, inhibited person, and now look at her. Nobody shared it [contraband]. People are greedy at heart.'

A History of Contraband and Camp Fallout

This was not Shona's first brush with jungle rule-breaking. Earlier in the series, she and close friend Alex Scott were caught smuggling other items. While the former Lioness brought in salt and pepper sachets, Shona took an air freshener from a Bush Tucker Trial. Their actions led to a camp-wide punishment, with a meal star being revoked.

Ruby expressed disbelief at their actions: 'You know, where did they get the nerve? 'Cause all of us are, you know, jeopardised. And then the air freshener, why that? You know, when we have no food? And nobody cares what the Dunny smells like... I would have ripped it out of her hand.' The butter scandal even led campmates to call for Shona to be instantly dethroned as camp leader, with Ruby taking her place.

Shona's Jungle Journey and X-Rated Aftermath

Shona had entered the jungle with the stated aim of tackling long-running struggles with anxiety and depression, hoping to prove to herself she was 'bigger than this anxiety'. Viewers have witnessed her come out of her shell, becoming a more vocal and joking presence in camp.

Meanwhile, Ruby Wax made headlines herself the following day on This Morning, leaving hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley blushing with a series of very X-rated jokes about her eating trials. She quipped about having a throat with 'a lot of girth' to consume animal parts and made a cheeky reference to fellow campmate Tom Read Wilson 'entering' her into the camp's water pool.

As the series heads towards its finale on Sunday, Shona McGarty remains one of the six final celebrities, with her transformed jungle persona and the fallout from the contraband scandals continuing to be a major talking point.
