Ruben Dias Denies Cheating on Maya Jama

Footballer Ruben Dias has broken his silence following his split from television presenter Maya Jama, firmly denying any infidelity. The 29-year-old Manchester City defender addressed persistent rumours in a lengthy social media post, stating that he never cheated on the 31-year-old Love Island host.

Relationship Timeline

Dias and Jama dated for 18 months before reportedly ending their relationship just before she travelled to Scotland to film The Celebrity Traitors at the end of April. Since then, speculation about the cause of their breakup has been widespread.

Dias Denies Cheating

In his Instagram statement, Dias wrote: "I feel that when my 85-year-old grandad is asking me if I've cheated on my girlfriend because he's seen it repeatedly on the news, that's where I draw the line on what's acceptable and what's not."

He emphasised that their relationship was built on mutual respect, adding: "No line was ever crossed in that regard. A lie told often enough can start to feel like the truth and for that reason I tell you that I didn't cheat, nor did I ever have the intention or temptation to."

Dias insisted that Jama "deserves all the respect in the world" and requested that the reasons for their split remain private. "The reasons why we broke up are private and belong to us and we've both dealt with it in a very mature way. I've always chosen to remain silent on these matters as my personal life is my business only," he wrote.

Rumours of Toe Dipping

While the couple were still together, rumours circulated that Dias had been "toe dipping" — a modern term for potentially flirting with others while in a monogamous relationship. Screenshots obtained by The Sun allegedly showed him following and unfollowing model Catarina Duraes in March, and a woman named Claire from Perth last November.

There is no suggestion that Dias cheated or messaged the women, but an insider claimed his actions "will raise eyebrows."

Dias concluded his statement by asking fans for respect for both himself and Jama, noting that infidelity is not always the reason for a split.
