Royal fans mock Meghan's spoon grip in As Ever photo

The Duchess of Sussex has had an exciting week for her As Ever brand, but some royal fans have been quick to make minor complaints about her latest update.

Meghan Markle revealed that the first “chapter” of her holiday collection is available for customers to shop online. The collection includes hampers full of As Ever products, ranging from candles, spreads, and chocolates.

Announcing the release on Instagram, Meghan wrote: “The Holiday Collection: Chapter One is now open. Discover our first arrivals of the season, with thoughtful gifts and new favorites for everyone on your list.”

Fans criticise spoon-holding technique

Alongside the announcement, Meghan shared two photographs. The first showed her leaning on a kitchen counter, and the second showed her holding a spoon in a jar of her strawberry spread.

While many have shown excitement for the festive offerings, more cynical fans have complained about the way Meghan held the spoon, as the photograph shows her holding it between her index and middle fingers.

Writing on X, royal fans mocked the duchess. One person wrote: “Who holds a spoon between their index and middle finger?? Anyone?”

Another person said: “Who thinks these photos are worth posting? The shadows are terrible, and the way she holds the utensil is distracting.”

Someone else said: “Best angle to show off the new ring probably.” Another comment read: “What a jumbled mess. And the weird holding of the spoon. She needs better assistants to give her advice.”

Meghan celebrates brand journey

Meghan has not responded to the criticism. Instead, she has spent the week celebrating her As Ever brand and how far it has come since she launched it last year.

Earlier this week, Meghan shared an emotional video reel on Instagram looking back on her journey that led her to start As Ever and to continue pursuing it now, even after moving from the US to the UK. The video reel also included videos with her daughter Princess Lilibet.

A proud Meghan wrote: “When I was about eight years old, I started my own business making handmade scrunchies I sewed on my grandmother’s Singer sewing machine and sold for $1 a piece.”

The duchess continued: “I sold Girl Scout cookies, had lemonade stands, worked in a frozen yogurt shop, and had countless other jobs. My entrepreneurial spirit was always there.

“As I shared years ago on The Tig (PS, love you ladies @thetiglets): ‘Behind every successful woman is herself’ - and that’s true… but there’s more: a community of love, a squad of support, an amazing team.

“As I pinch myself looking at how this brand has grown, and as we introduce our holiday collection, I feel very proud, and grateful. A huge thanks to my team at @aseverofficial. So proud of what we are creating together. Thanks for helping bring this vision to life.”

As Ever products are still not available to UK customers, despite Meghan now living in Britain.
