Romeo Beckham has admitted he 'didn't stand a chance' after taking on a champion sumo wrestler during a trip to Tokyo with his girlfriend Kim Turnbull. The 23-year-old visited the Tatsunami sumo wrestling stable, a 150-year-old institution known for housing some of Japan's top wrestlers.
Sharing a series of images on Instagram, including one where he was being lifted by the wrestler, Romeo wrote: 'Didn't stand a chance. And met the champ.' The fighter he faced was Hōshōryū Tomokatsu. Fans responded with amusement, with one commenting 'At least you tried.'
The trip comes shortly after Romeo attended Paris Fashion Week and supported his mother Victoria Beckham as she received the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters award in Paris on 26 January. Victoria thanked her children in her acceptance speech, saying they 'always believed in my vision.'
Romeo's sumo defeat follows a public feud with his older brother Brooklyn. Earlier in January, Brooklyn posted a six-page statement accusing his parents of being controlling, alleging that Victoria backed out of making wife Nicola Peltz's wedding dress at the last minute and 'hijacked' their first dance. He also claimed his brothers Romeo and Cruz had been sent to 'attack' him on social media before blocking him.
The broader Beckham family has remained silent on the dispute, but all have returned to social media to share their activities. Brooklyn and Nicola were previously rumoured to have fallen out with David and Victoria Beckham after missing family events, though Brooklyn insisted they travelled to London for David’s 50th birthday but were rebuffed.
