Roman Kemp has opened up about a major life change as he hints at plans for his 'future family'. The Celebrity Gogglebox star, 33, revealed he is shifting focus from his career towards his wellbeing and financial stability for a family.
Changing Priorities
Roman, one of the most recognizable faces on British television, has hosted The One Show and the BRIT Awards, and appeared on reality shows like I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! and Celebrity Race Across the World. As the son of Spandau Ballet's Martin Kemp and singer Shirlie Holliman, he grew up in the celebrity sphere, which has prompted him to reconsider his life priorities.
Speaking on the Runna podcast, Roman said: 'My life and the things that I strive for in my life has definitely changed, much more so in the last year. I'd say I'm more focused on what can I do for me, what can I do that betters me as a human being whether that be physically or whether that be mentally. Even financially for my future family, those are more of the things I am focusing on whereas in my 20s it was very career focused.'
Relationship and Future Plans
Roman is understood to be in a relationship with production and casting assistant Carmen Gaggero, though he has not yet married or started a family. However, he is clearly thinking ahead. He acknowledged that his priorities have shifted dramatically, and none of his current life ambitions involve work, which he admits is 'not how we're programmed to be, especially in London'.
Roman hosted on Capital FM for a decade before leaving in 2024. He also reflected on his childhood, noting that he used to become irritated when people approached his parents for photographs. 'I've always been very vocal about my perception of fame. I have no want or need for those things,' he said. 'I've been very fortunate to grow up the way that I have, but it has shown me that sometimes that world isn't what you should want. When we would go for family dinners, it used to upset me that other people were looking at our table... I didn't like the fact that people were coming over to my parents or asking for a picture. I didn't like it. And I felt like it put us in a different room to everyone else.'
He added: 'At what point do you say this is enough? Because it's not reality. What's real is going outside and moving your body. That's tangible. The perception of fame and those things is so fleeting.'
