Manchester City midfielder Rodri is in demand this summer after captaining Spain to their second World Cup triumph. The 30-year-old was awarded the Golden Ball following a 1-0 victory over Argentina, propelling him into Ballon d'Or contention.
Poll shows fan support for second Ballon d'Or
Rodri previously won the Ballon d'Or in 2024 after helping City secure the Treble, scoring the winner in the Champions League final, being named Euro 2024 Player of the Tournament, and winning that competition with Spain. A poll of 1,918 City fans gave a clear verdict on his credentials this season.
70% voted in favour of the Spaniard winning the honour for a second time, while 27% believed he should not win it due to limited appearances—he featured 33 times for City last season. Just 3% were unsure.
Contract situation adds uncertainty
Rodri's future remains in doubt as his contract expires next summer and he has yet to sign an extension. When asked about the midfielder recently, Enzo Maresca said: "Every manager wants to have Rodri, but now surgery. He needs to rest and recover, and then he will be back here with us."
