Robbie Williams has revealed he is “embracing” losing his hair after several attempts to prevent it have proved unsuccessful. The singer explained that popular remedies such as a hair transplant or medication are not suitable options for him.
During an appearance on the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on Tuesday (2 August), Williams said his hair is “getting thinner and thinner”. He noted that no surgeon would give him a second transplant because his hair is too thin, and he cannot take pills because they cause depression.
“I’m just going to have to embrace Robbie Williams losing his hair,” he joked, adding, “We’ve both lived long enough to see me losing my hair.” The ‘Rock DJ’ singer had a transplant in 2013 and attempted another in 2020, but was told his hair was too thin.
Speaking to The Sun in January, Williams said he also tried expensive hair loss injections but to no effect. “I am losing my hair… when a light shines on the top of it, it becomes like a baby’s bum,” he said, adding that the injections cost “the same price as my grandma’s house” but produced no results after seven months.
Earlier this month, researchers at the University of California, Riverside, identified a single chemical that may cause male pattern baldness. The main NHS treatments include medications finasteride and minoxidil, as well as wigs, steroid injections and light therapy.
