Rob Lowe's niece Fiona has died at the age of 13, her family said in a statement. Fiona was the daughter of Rob's brother Chad Lowe, an actor, and producer Kim Painter.
Family's statement
In a statement to People, the family said: “We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona.” They remembered her as “a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance.”
“She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives. Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time,” the statement continued.
The family also urged: “If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 suicide & crisis lifeline by calling or texting 988.”
Family background
Fiona was the second of Chad and Kim's three daughters. The couple are also parents to Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10. Chad shared a photo of Fiona on Instagram last November as he wished her a happy birthday.
He wrote: “Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!! Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!”
Acting careers
Chad won an Emmy Award for his role as a young man living with HIV in the comedy-drama series Life Goes On (1989-1993). More recently, he starred as Byron Montgomery on the teen drama series Pretty Little Liars (2010-2017).
His older brother Rob was a teen idol in the 1980s, known for appearing in films like The Outsiders (1983), Class (1984) and St. Elmo's Fire (1985).
