Comedian Rob Beckett has revealed he was ejected from Sir Mick Jagger's 82nd birthday party last month after drinking excessively. The 39-year-old attended the bash as a guest of fellow comedian Jimmy Carr, having already spent the evening at Oasis's reunion concert at Wembley Stadium.
The party was held at The Rex Rooms, a Chelsea nightclub, where Beckett mingled with rock royalty. 'It was a tiny little back room and Mick Jagger was there,' he said on the Parenting Hell podcast. Among the guests were Ronnie Wood and his wife Sally, Sacha Baron Cohen, Mariella Frostrup and Lulu.
Beckett admitted he had drunk six pints of lager, two espresso martinis and a bottle and a half of rosé before arriving. 'I'm stood wearing a Stone Island anorak with a vodka and soda after being on a motorbike chatting to Ronnie Wood and Sally Wood and Jimmy Carr. And I'm just talking absolute s***e,' he recalled.
Realising he was too intoxicated, he attempted to leave but was assisted by security. 'I got like frog marched out by four people that were like holding on to me,' Beckett said. Co-host Josh Widdicombe teased that he had been forcibly ejected, to which Beckett mused: 'Maybe I got kicked out. I don't know! They're walking me out, like they're extracting me, like I'm a Rolling Stone.'
The following morning, he received a text from Ronnie and Sally Wood. 'They said they wanted to come to a gig!' he said, describing the night as 'one of the most mental nights of my life.'
