Comedian Rob Beckett has revealed that he was kicked out of Mick Jagger's 82nd birthday party last month after a night of heavy drinking. The star had attended Oasis's Wembley gig before heading to the private bash as Jimmy Carr's plus one.
The party took place at The Rex Rooms, a private members' club in Chelsea. Beckett described the scene as a "tiny little back room" with a host of celebrities, including Ronnie Wood, Sacha Baron Cohen, Mariella Frostrup and Lulu. He said Jagger was in a separate room with Cohen for part of the evening.
Speaking on the Parenting Hell podcast, Beckett said he had consumed six pints of lager, two espresso martinis and a bottle and a half of rosé before switching to a vodka and soda. He admitted he was "too p***ed to be here" and decided to leave while chatting to Ronnie Wood and his wife, Sally.
However, his exit was not smooth. He told co-host Josh Widdecombe that he was "frogmarched out by four people that were like holding on to me". He joked that they were extracting him "like I'm a Rolling Stone and there's like 10,000 people trying to grab me".
The following morning, Beckett woke up with a hangover and a message from Ronnie and Sally Wood, who said they wanted to come to a gig. He described the night as "one of the most mental nights of my life".
