Rita Ora Opens Up About Stepmotherhood: A Real Eye-Opener

Rita Ora has shared rare insights into her role as a stepmother to husband Taika Waititi's two daughters, describing the experience as an 'eye-opener'. The 35-year-old singer married the New Zealand director in 2022 and now co-parents Te Hinekahu, 13, and Matewa Kiritapu, nine, with Waititi and his ex-partner Chelsea Winstanley.

In an interview with The Sun, Ora revealed that blending families has been surprisingly easy. 'We wake up, we work out together with the kids running on the treadmills; it's a family affair,' she said. 'I have to say it's been a real eye-opener to understand that sometimes there's more to life than what you care about in that moment.'

Speaking on the Table Manners podcast, Ora described herself as a 'fairy godmother' with no real responsibility. She also credited moving to New Zealand as a 'game changer', noting that she feels at home there. 'Half of my family and his kids go to school in New Zealand... it's like a home away from home for me,' she added.

Ora first met Waititi in Sydney while she was working on The Voice and he was filming Thor: Ragnarok. 'That's just where we kind of clicked,' she recalled. The couple married in an impromptu ceremony in Los Angeles after Ora proposed in Palm Springs.

Looking to the future, Ora has previously spoken about wanting a big family and freezing her eggs on medical advice. 'I have always wanted a big family... why not put them away and then you never have to worry about it again?' she said in a past interview.
