The Real Housewives of Cheshire is facing a major upheaval after five prominent cast members have left the show, citing a toxic behind-the-scenes environment. Dawn Ward and Tanya Bardsley departed in the last two years, followed by Lauren Brown, Esther Dee, and Debbie Davies, leaving producers scrambling to find replacements.
An insider told The Sun: "It's a nightmare to lose so many people, especially such big characters like Tanya. After Debbie quit bosses knew it was time to start hunting for new stars - they know they've got some huge personalities to replace so they're not looking for just anyone."
Tanya Bardsley, a main fixture since the show began, left after six years due to health and anxiety issues exacerbated by the stressful environment. A source revealed at the time: "Tanya has been really struggling with her anxiety recently, it got bad over lockdown and she just really wants to concentrate on herself. Her recent collapse really scared her and she knows she can’t continue juggling so many plates."
Dawn Ward quit after season 12, posting on social media: "Having been on the Real Housewives of Cheshire for almost 7 years & 12 seasons, I’ve had the most incredible journey... Everyone who knows me knows I’m all about my family, so I’ve decided that after 12 seasons on the show I would like to concentrate on projects with them."
Producers are now reportedly searching far and wide for new cast members to fill the gaps left by the departures, as the ITVBe show faces an uncertain future.
