The Red Bull Soapbox Race returned to Alexandra Palace in London on 20 June 2026, drawing large crowds to witness high-spirited and eccentric entries. The annual event features fancy dress soapboxes racing down a downhill course with numerous hazards, often resulting in spectacular crashes.
Event Highlights
Photographer Jack Dredd captured a range of imaginative entries, including Team King of the Hill’s Charles-themed soapbox, a Ghostbusters team, and Newcastle United fans pushing their entry to the start line. Other notable entries included Bendy the Hoover, the Bath Kraken, and a Chinese takeaway-themed soapbox.
Spectacular Crashes
The flimsy soapboxes often start to come apart over the jump, adding to the excitement. One desk soapbox landed heavily, while an eagle soapbox took flight briefly before crashing. Even skateboarding provided inspiration for one entry.
Local Participation
Haringey Hounds Blades of Fury, a team that plays at the Alexandra Palace ice rink, also participated. Two young entrants got ready for take-off, showcasing the family-friendly nature of the event.
