Reba McEntire has broken her silence on the death of her former stepson, Brandon Blackstock, who passed away on August 7 after a three-year battle with melanoma. The country singer, who was married to Brandon's father Narvel Blackstock from 1989 to 2015, shared her grief in a comment on her son Shelby's tribute to his late brother.
Shelby Blackstock, Reba and Narvel's son, posted a heartfelt message on social media, describing Brandon as 'an irreplaceable part of our family—funny, bright, and full of life.' Reba responded, 'Very well said Shelby. Yes we will miss him so much,' accompanied by broken heart emojis.
Brandon, a talent manager, leaves behind four children: River and Remy from his marriage to Kelly Clarkson, and Savannah and Seth from his first wife, Melissa Ashworth. Kelly postponed dates of her Las Vegas residency in August to be 'fully present' for her children following their father's death.
Despite their divorce in 2022, Reba remained supportive of both Brandon and Kelly. She previously told Extra, 'I love them both, Brandon's my stepson, Kelly's my good friend, and I'm pulling for both of them.' The two singers have stayed close, with Kelly revealing in 2023 that they still text regularly.
