Ray J Reveals Heart Only Beating 25% After Pneumonia Scare

Singer Ray J has shared a concerning health update after being hospitalised in Las Vegas with severe pneumonia. In a video posted to social media on January 27, 2026, the 45-year-old said doctors had told him he may have as little as three weeks to live. He appeared visibly weakened and disclosed that his heart is now functioning at only 25 per cent capacity.

Ray J, known for hits such as 'Sexy Can I', was admitted earlier this month for the lung infection, which caused significant damage to his heart. In a January 25 Instagram video, he said: 'My health is not OK, so I thank everybody for supporting and praying for me through everything I've been in the hospital.' He attributed his condition partly to past lifestyle choices, including 'partying too hard'.

The singer has received support from his sister, Brandy, who has paid his medical bills for the rest of the year so he can focus on recovery. Ray J expressed gratitude for his sibling, noting that she has been a constant source of strength behind the scenes. Their parents have also accompanied him to critical medical appointments this week.

Ray J is married to Princess Love, though the couple are currently living apart. She filed for divorce from him for the fourth time in February 2024. They have two children together, daughter Melody Love and son Epik Ray. In his latest update, Ray J emphasised that his priority is ensuring his family is cared for, saying: 'My baby mama gon' be straight, my kids gon' be straight... I did my part here.'

The singer previously battled pneumonia in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic. He and Brandy were both born in McComb, Mississippi, and later moved to Los Angeles, where their music careers flourished. They have collaborated on songs and a reality television series.
