Gordon Ramsay has said his son-in-law, Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty, calls him “dad”, as the family rift between Peaty and his own parents deepens. The celebrity chef made the comments on Gaby Roslin’s Reasons To Be Joyful podcast, describing how Peaty now messages him with greetings such as “Hey dad”.
Ramsay, 59, added that he felt he had gained a son after Peaty married his daughter Holly, 26, in a recent ceremony. He said the couple were “a dream” for him and his wife Tana, and recounted emotional moments from the wedding, including Peaty crying at the altar.
The comments come amid a public falling-out between Peaty and his parents, Caroline and Mark. The couple were reportedly banned from the wedding, and Ramsay is said to have referenced their absence in his speech. Earlier this month, Ramsay described the feud as “self-inflicted from their side”, telling the Daily Mail that he and Tana had welcomed the Peatys and sent a chauffeur-driven car to the engagement party.
The rift first emerged when Caroline Peaty missed Holly’s hen party, and later extended to the wedding guest list. Peaty’s brother James was arrested in November over alleged threatening messages sent during the stag do in Budapest, though he was released without charge.
