Gordon Ramsay, Marco Pierre White and Heston Blumenthal are reuniting for a new BBC series that explores the rise of celebrity chefs. The three-part programme, titled 'The Rise Of The Rockstar Chef', will air on BBC One and iPlayer, marking the first time the trio have come together in more than a decade.
Reunion to Discuss Fights, Fall-Outs and Feuds
The series will see the chefs recount their early careers, including “the fights, fall-outs and feuds” that defined their rise to fame. Catherine Catton, head of commissioning for factual entertainment and events at the BBC, said: “Decades ago, Marco, Gordon and Heston ripped up the rule-book of British fine dining and changed the world of restaurants forever. I’m delighted they’re reuniting to bring BBC audiences the truly extraordinary story behind their fierce rivalry, uncompromising ambition and, at times, truly outrageous antics.”
Insights from Food Critics and Former Colleagues
The programme will also feature input from food critics, maîtres d’ and former commis chefs who witnessed the chefs' rise. It will culminate in an on-screen reunion of Ramsay, Pierre White and Blumenthal for the first time in over 10 years.
Nostalgia for the 1990s and 2000s
Lisa Edwards, chief creative officer and executive producer at Studio Ramsay Global, added: “Nineties and noughties nostalgia is at an all-time high for both those of us who were there and those that weren’t – the heady mix of an uprising in fashion, politics and music makes it a decade like no other. But there was another rock and roll revolution happening in the UK. It was the decade that really put British food on the map led by the original rockstar chefs, Marco Gordon and Heston. It’s the story of rivalry and the pursuit of perfection where the real heat was not just in the kitchen.”
