Chart-topping DJ Purple Disco Machine, whose real name is Tino Piontek, has cancelled all upcoming shows for the next month after doctors advised him to rest due to hearing loss. The German producer, known for hits like Dopamine, In the Dark, and Substitution, shared the news on Instagram, leaving fans stunned but supportive.
Announcement and Medical Advice
In a statement, Piontek wrote: "Hi guys, unfortunately, I have some not-so-good news to share with you today. I’ve had to make the difficult decision to cancel all scheduled shows from now until mid-July due to ongoing issues with my hearing. Over the past three weeks, I’ve been dealing with tinnitus and sudden hearing loss. While this has happened to me before, and I’ve been living with tinnitus for the past 25 years, it has never been this severe, and I need to follow my doctors’ advice and give my body the time it needs to recover."
Impact on Tour and Fans
The cancellation affects multiple tour dates that were highlights of his career, with thousands of fans expected at venues worldwide. Piontek described the decision as "one of the hardest things" he has had to do, but emphasised that this is a "temporary setback." He assured fans he plans to return by mid-July, saying: "Right now, the most important thing is giving my ears the rest they need so I can recover properly and return at 100% for the long run. Turns out I’m not a machine after all!"
Fan Reactions
Fans quickly shared well-wishes on social media. One wrote: "I was so excited to see you in the Forest this week but I’m glad you’re taking care of yourself, thank you!" Another added: "Sending all the healing light and love your way. We need you for a long time not just a good time." Piontek thanked his promotional teams for their understanding and concluded: "Thank you for your understanding, your patience and your continued support. It means more to me than you know and I can’t wait to see you all again soon."
