A pub manager has revealed what Bradley Walsh was like during his visit to her Wiltshire pub. While her colleagues instantly recognised the television personality, Erin Williams, who took over control of the pub last year, confessed she hadn't a clue who he was - and even informed The Chase presenter of this fact.
Erin revealed that she was raised in South Africa and doesn't always recognise British celebrities, though her fellow team members identified him immediately.
Witty Exchange
Speaking to the Gazette and Herald, she said punters and staff were pleased to see him, with the pub's social media coordinator Kate declaring: "Oh my God, can you believe he's here?"
Erin continued to explain that she offered Bradley an apology for failing to recognise him, and he responded with a witty remark.
"I'm South African so I didn't have a clue who he was," she revealed. "He posed for a photo with us and I said to him, 'I'm so sorry but I don't know who you are'."
Revealing Bradley's reaction, she continued: "He laughed and said, 'That's okay, I don't know who you are either'."
New TV Ventures
The 66-year-old is understood to have dropped by The Crown Inn in Broad Hinton while taking a break from filming. He is reportedly working on a fresh series entitled Out of This World, described as a blend of science, curiosity and comedy.
Alongside his newest venture, the host is also presenting The Chase Around the World, a fresh spin-off that transports the quiz format abroad. The opening episode saw six teams racing through Rome while tackling questions and puzzles. The slowest duo at the finishing line then faced a head-to-head battle with Chasers Anne Hegerty (The Governess) and Mark Labbett (The Beast).
The series progresses across four additional countries, with the next episode taking place in Barcelona. There, teams will encounter challenges set by Jenny Ryan (The Vixen) and Darragh Ennis (The Menace), with correct answers giving them the opportunity to dash across the city and reach Walsh before their competitors.
Penalty and Reflections
And there's a significant penalty for those lagging behind - the final team to arrive must confront the Chasers in a face-off, while the victors advance to the next location.
Reflecting on the fresh format, Bradley said: "I would describe it as The Chase... but around the world! It's out and about. It was very different doing it on location, in these incredible places, instead of being in a studio. I've been locked in Elstree Studios for 17 years!"
"The locations were unbelievable. I loved it, I really did - but then again, I wasn't chasing around, literally chasing around, the cities we were in."
The Chase Around The World continues tonight at 9pm on ITV. The Chase also airs weekdays from 5pm on the same channel.
