Professor Green and Millie Mackintosh have announced their separation after just two years of marriage. In a joint statement given to Newsbeat, the couple said: "It is with sadness and regret that we confirm our separation." They added that the decision was mutual and that they still care deeply for each other, wishing to part on amicable terms.
The rapper, whose real name is Stephen Manderson, and the fashion designer, known for her role in Made in Chelsea, began their relationship after Green saw Mackintosh on the cover of FHM. They married at Babington House in Somerset in 2013, but rumours of trouble had been circulating for months. Last year, Green admitted to a newspaper that they had been attending counselling to try to save their relationship.
Green recently spoke about the lack of quality time with his wife, saying they had been "like ships in the night" and that it was difficult missing someone for so long. He noted that even when they had time off together, they would often end up arguing. Despite the separation, neither has filed for divorce, and Mackintosh was seen at London Fashion Week still wearing her wedding ring.
