Princess Andre has openly expressed her profound sense of relief at no longer feeling "caught in the middle" of her parents' protracted and public feud. This emotional shift follows a significant truce established between her mother, Katie Price, and father, Peter Andre, marking a hopeful new chapter for the family.
A Long-Awaited Family Resolution
The 18-year-old reality television star, who is set to return to ITV2 for the second series of her show The Princess Diaries, shared her feelings in an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail. Princess articulated her hope that life will now become "easier" for everyone involved, as her parents have consciously chosen to "close the door on the past" and "move forward with positivity and respect."
"Honestly, I feel relieved that they both agreed to move forward," Princess stated. "It's nice that they can be on good terms - and to think that Junior and I won't be caught in the middle, and hopefully life will be easier for everybody."
Hopes for Future Collaborations
Princess, whose parents divorced just two years after her birth, is even optimistic about the possibility of both Katie and Peter appearing together in a potential third season of her documentary series. "The good thing is now, my mum and dad have come out with an agreement to be fine so hopefully in season three, they will actually both be in it," she revealed.
She further emphasized her current priorities, saying, "All I care about now is that we can all be happy and not have to deal with stories having the wrong narrative. It would be nice to not have people asking me and Junior about our parents, or issues that they've had, but that looks like that's not stopping yet."
Background of Parental Tensions
Viewers of Princess's show have long been engrossed by the fallout between Katie Price and Peter Andre following their acrimonious split in 2007. This divorce initiated sixteen years of sustained tension and public disputes between the former couple.
In August of last year, Peter Andre made a significant revelation, disclosing for the first time that his children, Junior and Princess, had come into his sole care in 2018. This statement was issued to address what he described as "lies" and "baseless claims" propagated by his ex-wife.
Recent Developments and the Truce
Peter's public remarks came shortly after Katie Price claimed she had been "banned" from filming The Princess Diaries, expressing her upset at being excluded from the project during a podcast episode. This exchange prompted Peter and his wife, Emily, to withdraw entirely from the new series, despite their participation in the first season.
Now, six months later, the former couple, who were married for four years, have formally agreed to a "truce." This agreement reaffirms their shared commitment to "family" and "stability," providing a foundation for improved relations. Princess commented on the current situation, noting, "To be honest, they're still in it - they're just not physically in it. Now there are no issues, it's all calm."
Focus on Independence and New Series Content
Princess also highlighted her personal growth and the evolving focus of her television series. "Coming from the last season, I turned 18, and it was all meant to be about my adulthood journey, but you're going to see a lot more of me being independent," she explained. "This season is seeing me push myself out of my comfort zone and doing things I wouldn't usually do. I'm living my life as an 18-year-old girl."
While Katie Price and Peter Andre will not make physical appearances in the upcoming season, which premieres on Sunday at 9pm, viewers will be introduced to several new faces. Notably, Princess's eldest brother, Harvey, aged 23, will feature in the show for the very first time.
Inclusion of Brother Harvey
Princess hopes that Harvey's inclusion will help raise awareness about his multiple disabilities, which include septo-optic dysplasia—a rare condition causing partial blindness and growth hormone deficiency—as well as Prader–Willi syndrome, a genetic disorder linked to excessive appetite and increased risks of obesity and diabetes. Harvey has also been diagnosed with ADHD and autism.
"Harvey is going to be on the show - you'll see our brother-and-sister relationship," Princess said. Her brother, Junior, who was present during the interview, added, "He's our big brother and kind of my little brother in a way. He's our family and we want to show our family. Harvey is a massive part of that; we have both grown up with him."
Junior continued, "We have such a special bond with him, and people know that, but they haven't seen it in a while - maybe they don't know how it works now, but it's great because it shows how the dynamic works. We know Harvey inside and out and how he fully works and how to deal with his disabilities and his autism; we really know how to get through to him."
Additional New Faces and Personal Life
Princess also confirmed that her mother's close friend, Kerry Katona, has filmed scenes for the series, alongside Kerry's daughter, Heidi, aged 18. Princess has known Heidi her entire life. "You'll see Heidi and Kerry, so there are some new faces. People will love to see my relationship with Heidi because we just bounce off each other," Princess remarked.
She elaborated, "We've gone through similar life experiences, so I feel naturally closer to her. I've known her since I was a baby - we've always been around each other. Our friendship is real, and we talk about things that people will probably want to know about."
Navigating Public and Private Life
While her mother's love life continues to attract media attention—Katie Price married her fourth husband, Lee Andrews, in January after a whirlwind one-week romance—Princess stated she is not in a hurry to date. "I mean, it is possible to date privately. If you want to keep things private, you can do it," she explained.
"Most of my life has been in the public eye, so it's nice to keep something for me. I've spoken about people sliding into my DMs, but for me, I'm taking my time and living my life," Princess added. She noted that in the new series, Junior's girlfriend, Jasmine, attempts to set her up on a dating app, but she found the experience "so stressful."
"So I'm just doing my thing, and if dates come along, they come along. For now, I'm concentrating on me," Princess concluded. The Princess Diaries returns on Sunday, 8th March, at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
