Prince George turns 13 today, meaning that Prince William and Princess Catherine are officially the parents of a teenager. With such a big move coming up for George, one royal expert has noted just how significant his 13th birthday is. Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams exclusively told The Daily Express: “Prince George’s birthday when he turns 13 is extremely significant as he is about to go to Eton, an ideal choice considering his future and one likely to be approved of generally by the public who will understand why, especially with the Waleses home so close, that is the ideal choice for the future king.”
Fitzwilliams added: “William and Catherine are naturally right to ensure he has both privacy and as normal a childhood as possible. Yet it is already clear that he has presence and looks totally at ease in the events he does attend such as the Trooping the Colour and the Remembrance Day Commemoration at the Albert Hall, and at the football matches when he joins his father in enthusiastically supporting Aston Villa.”
George's future and family
“His relationship with his siblings seems ideal and they all seem happy at the same school. However, his future is very different to theirs,” Fitzwilliams said. He then discussed what could await George in the future, both at Eton and after. He said: “It looks as though a stint in the three services in the tradition of his father is likely. It is certain, to judge by one his current enthusiasms, to involve helicopters.”
“He will be aware that his future involves being one of the most scrutinised beings on the earth and, being king, the apex of privilege, comes with every gesture being examined by the media worldwide one day. Eton will be the ideal training ground as he matures. His keenness for the outdoors should play well for him too.” The family will celebrate George’s 13th birthday privately today.
