Prince George has often been compared to members of the Royal Family, but some royalists believe he has a striking resemblance to Princess Diana's family. Prince William and Catherine's eldest son was described as the "spitting image" of Diana's father, after her younger brother shared a series of rarely seen family photographs on Instagram.
Charles, the 9th Earl Spencer, posted two historic images taken between 1940 and 1941 showing his grandfather, Albert, and his father, John, outside the Spencer family's ancestral home, Althorp House. In one photograph, Albert Spencer is pictured in military uniform alongside his dog in the front courtyard of the Northamptonshire estate. Another shows John Spencer, also dressed in uniform during his time in the Corps at Eton College, posing in front of a foliage-covered wall.
Royal fans notice resemblance
While the post centred on his family's military history, the resemblance between the young John Spencer and 12-year-old Prince George quickly caught the attention of royal followers. One royal fan took the comment section to share: "I think Prince George is the spitting image of your father when young. I love these photos." Another fan wrote: "Prince George is the spitting image of your father." Another one agreed, adding: "I see his father in William also."
Prince George is about to follow in John Spencer's footsteps by joining Eton College in the autumn. The prestigious school has educated some of Britain's most high-profile people, including former prime ministers and Prince Harry and William. John, formally known as the 8th Earl Spencer, went on to become a military officer after Eton, serving in the Royal Scots Greys during World War II.
