Prince George celebrates his 13th birthday today (July 22), and royal fans have noted he bears a striking resemblance to one of his lesser-known family members.
The eldest son of Prince William and Kate Middleton is almost the same height as his mother as he reaches this milestone. He is set to follow in his father's footsteps by enrolling at Eton College this September, attending the £63,000-a-year school on a full-time basis.
Comparison to Great-Uncle Charles Spencer
On Instagram, a royal fan shared a side-by-side image of Prince George with an old photograph of his great-uncle Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer, the younger brother of Princess Diana. The two appear to bear a striking resemblance, with George looking like the spitting image of Earl Spencer as a young lad.
The fan wrote: "There's no doubt that Prince George is a Spencer. What do you think? Does he look like his great-uncle Charles or not?"
Split Opinions Among Royal Fans
Commenters were divided. Many saw the Spencer resemblance, but others argued George looks more like his great-great-grandfather, King George VI. One person said: "For the first time, I saw the Spencer in him in these Easter photos." Another added: "Definitely has some Spencer."
But a different commenter claimed: "No way - he is 100% a Windsor. Looks like King George VI," to which someone else agreed: "I think he looks like his great-great-grandfather, King George VI." Another noted: "George has King George VI's eyes, Queen Elizabeth's father."
Comparisons to Other Royal Siblings
Prince George is not the only royal sibling compared to older family members. During Trooping the Colour last month, Prince Louis was said to look exactly like his maternal grandfather, Michael Middleton. One fan called him the "double" of Princess Catherine's father, noting he was "growing up fast."
