Prime Video Issues Harassment Warning to Off Campus Fans
Prime Video Warns Off Campus Fans Over Harassment

Prime Video has threatened to take action after issuing a stern warning to Off Campus fans regarding harassment of the cast and their loved ones.

Show Attracts Huge Fanbase

The new YA romance drama attracted a massive fanbase when it premiered on May 13. Based on Elle Kennedy's viral book series of the same name, the show follows love stories at the fictional Briar University.

As expected from a college-set drama, its cast consists of young actors trying to make a mark in the industry. Since they aren't already famous, fans have been digging into the crew's personal lives and sharing their opinions on social media.

Official Statement Issued

It seems viewers have crossed the line, as Prime Video released an official statement against the harassment of the actors and their families.

"The Off Campus community is built on a shared love of storytelling - and on respect for real people who bring it to life," the streaming giant wrote on Instagram. "We ask that everyone in this space extend that respect to our cast and the people in their lives."

The post continued: "Accounts that engage in targeted harassment will be removed from following our accounts."

Cast Members Under Scrutiny

The warning comes after Mika Abdalla, who plays Allie, announced her split from ex-fiancé Jake Short. This sparked a frenzy on social media as fans tried to uncover what led to the breakup.

They quickly found an old clip from Jake's Sit and Chat podcast, in which he refers to Mika as "some b**ch". The video placed Jake under scrutiny, forcing the former partners to speak out.

In a joint statement released to Us Weekly, they said: "We've seen a conversation around clips of us together when we were in a relationship, and people making harmful and inaccurate assumptions about our dynamic. We were in a loving, respectful relationship for five years [and] it's hurtful to see playful moments dissected in a way that does not reflect the respect and love we had and still have for each other."

It isn't just Mika's love life that has attracted attention. Lead actor Belmont Cameli's relationship with writer Raina Morris has also been at the centre of social media scrutiny.

About the Show
