Green Party leader Zack Polanski has been criticised live on GB News after refusing to apologise to Nigel Farage for sharing a contentious image on social media. Contributor Paul Cox said on Wednesday's programme: "We are seeing the dying embers of Zack Polanski's political career, most people recognise it. It's over for Zack Polanski. This is just the very beginning, or maybe the middle, or somewhere near the end of the end, but it's over for him."
Cox noted that several people have called for action against Polanski, just as would happen with right-wing politicians, but added that it is "ridiculous" to "arrest people for words on the internet."
Reform UK reports Polanski to police
The controversy erupted on Tuesday when Reform UK reported Polanski to the police over an Instagram post. The picture featured a man wearing a T-shirt reading, "We're only making plans for Nigel," alongside a photo of a guillotine.
Nigel Farage posted a screenshot, writing: "This is what Zack Polanski has just posted on his Instagram. If I was to post anything as inciteful then I would expect to be arrested, and so should Polanski."
Polanski refuses apology
Polanski admitted making an "inadvertent mistake" but refused to apologise to Farage. He told Newsnight: "If I'd done it deliberately, I'd be apologising. But because this was a mistake, I think the important thing is that I point out it's a mistake, that I also make sure that I condemn political violence, and also crucially, I make a commitment to be better on my social media. If Nigel Farage wants to apologise for all the times that he's put other people in danger, then I'll be happy to make an apology."
Polanski added that he "didn't pay enough attention to the T-shirt" and was "horrified" upon realising its "dangerous message."
