Playboi Carti, real name Jordan Carter, has been charged with misdemeanour assault following an alleged altercation with a limousine driver in Utah earlier this month, according to local police.
The incident occurred on October 2 when driver Carl Reynolds was transporting the 30-year-old rapper from the Waldorf Astoria hotel to rehearsals in Park City. Reynolds told police that an argument broke out between Carti and his girlfriend, and when the driver intervened, he was allegedly struck by the rapper.
Reynolds claimed that Carti's head of security attempted to separate them, and another driver from ALC A Limousine Connection witnessed the incident. Wasatch County police responded to the scene, documented Reynolds’ injuries, and confirmed an investigation is underway.
This is not Carti's first run-in with the law. In 2020, he was arrested in Georgia on drug and gun-related charges after being pulled over for an expired tag. Police allegedly found marijuana, Xanax, codeine, and three firearms in his Lamborghini Huracan.
