The cause of fashion designer Pip Edwards' sudden and worrying hospital dash has been disclosed, with sources pointing to extreme exhaustion and stress as the culprits. The 45-year-old founder of activewear label P.E Nation alarmed her followers on Monday night by posting a stark image from an emergency department bed.
A Swift Scare and a Speedy Recovery
Edwards shared the clinical view from her hospital bed with a cryptic caption referencing a 'plot twist' early in the new year. She later posted a more uplifting photo of her friend, interior stylist Steve Cordony, visiting to cheer her up. Despite the serious scare, her recovery was remarkably swift. Less than 24 hours after being discharged, she was photographed enjoying a swim with friends at Nielsen Park in Sydney's east, still wearing her hospital wristband and a bandage on her forearm.
The Backdrop of Recent Trauma
This health scare follows a deeply traumatic period for the designer. Edwards was caught up in the Bondi Junction terror attack last month, an experience she described as the most traumatic day of her life, during which she was forced to hide under a van. Sources close to her have stated she 'remains deeply shaken' and is prioritising her recovery. In the wake of the ordeal, she has stepped back from her role as creative director at the fashion label Ksubi, a position she had only recently reclaimed in September 2024.
A Festive Prelude to Hospitalisation
Ironically, Edwards' hospital admission came after what appeared to be a joyful start to the year. She celebrated New Year's Eve at a lavish Sydney Harbour mansion to watch the fireworks and then enjoyed a luxurious lunch with close friend, radio host Jackie 'O' Henderson, at Bondi Icebergs the following day. Both outings showed her in seemingly good health and high spirits, making her subsequent hospital visit all the more surprising to fans. Representatives for Pip Edwards have been contacted for comment regarding her health and recovery.
