Piers Morgan has delivered a scathing one-word verdict following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's latest instalment of family snaps online. On Thursday (July 23), the Duchess of Sussex shared a glimpse of her family trip to the UK, including a visit to a stately home where the late Princess Diana is buried.
Meghan's Instagram post
Taking to Instagram, the mum-of-two shared a carousel of 12 pictures, including several taken from their visit to Althorp - the Spencer family home - on their trip to the UK last month. She captioned the post 'Summer Holiday' with several captured at the Northamptonshire estate, now run by Harry's uncle and Diana's younger brother, Earl Spencer. In one picture, Princess Lilibet, five, is seen walking through the home's famous tree-lined gardens, while Harry and seven-year-old Prince Archie walk ahead carrying bouquets of flowers.
Other snaps shared by the royal show the Sussexes in swimwear spending time at the beach, as well as Harry throwing his daughter up in the air as they play in a swimming pool and enjoying time in Portugal, where they had been enjoying a holiday before returning to the UK.
Morgan's verdict
Sharing his verdict on the latest round of family snaps, where Archie and Lilibet's faces were notably concealed, the Uncensored host simply penned: "Privacy! [eye-rolling emoji]." The broadcaster has long been one of the couple's most vocal critics.
He wasn't the only one who agreed with his criticism online, with users flocking to X - formerly known as Twitter - to share their thoughts on the royal post online. One user penned: "Couldn't agree more. The double standards are obvious," as another agreed: "They say they want to be left alone, right? [confused emoji]."
A third chimed in with: "I think they mistake privacy with PR. They wonder why people don't like them." As a fourth added: "Why bother posting pics if not letting anyone see their faces? If they want their privacy, then don't bother posting anything. Who do they think they are? [eyes rolling emoji]."
Previous criticism
It comes after the dad-of-four questioned why the family posts photographs of their children despite repeatedly speaking about the dangers of social media. He accused them of "double standards", claiming the Duke and Duchess of Sussex preach about protecting children's privacy while continuing to share images of their kids online.
Speaking in an interview with Woman & Home, he fumed: "My old friends the Duke and Duchess of Sussex keep preaching to us about privacy and about the need to be careful online, and how dangerous it is for kids - and then what did they do? They upload photographs of their five-year-old child on social media to billions of people, immediately recognisable."
The 60-year-old said he could not understand the decision, arguing it contradicted the couple's public stance on online safety. He said: "What are you doing? What is this about? Why would you preach about privacy? Why would you lecture the world to be very careful with children online and then put your own child out there to millions of people? It makes no sense to me."
