Jeremy Sumpter, who starred as Peter Pan in the 2003 film, looks unrecognisable 23 years on. Now aged 37, the actor has changed considerably since his days in Neverland, and fans have been quick to comment on his recent appearance.
From Neverland to a cowboy hat
Sumpter was just 14 years old when he took on the iconic role. Since then, he has continued to build a career in the entertainment industry, appearing in films and TV shows including Into the Storm, Sisters of the Groom, and more recently Miami Nights and Alterity.
On Instagram, he recently shared an updated photo of himself wearing a cowboy hat. Fans praised his look, with one user commenting: "Hi Jeremy, you're still handsome. I remember Peter Pan a lot, your gaze is still the same. Wishing you much success." Another added: "Cowboy now?" A third wrote: "Thought you were never supposed to grow up. Ugh, love you."
Keeping Neverland alive
Despite moving on from the role, Sumpter still has a soft spot for Peter Pan. He continues to connect with fans through Cameo, where people can request personalised videos. He also regularly looks back on his time as Peter Pan on social media.
Sharing a post on Instagram, he wrote: "Just a reminder that anyone who books a Cameo will get a signed personalized Peter Pan photo! And later this week one of you will get my signed Peter Pan script! Time for someone else to cherish this as I have for so many years! Love y'all!"
The post prompted nostalgic reactions from fans. One user said: "I loved this movie. One of my favourite Peter Pan movies." Another added: "You are my only Peter Pan! I still remember to this day some of the dialogues from the movie! I’ve watched it too many times when I was a kid!" A third said: "Oh, I’ve always dreamed of getting an autograph from Jeremy. I’ve always been a huge fan of that movie. I know all the lines by heart. I love it so much! To this day, I cherish my Peter Pan DVD."
Life as a dad and horse lover
Sumpter married Elizabeth Treadway in a ceremony in Columbia, Tennessee, in October 2022. The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter, in April the following year. He has shared snippets of family life on social media, including a home video showing his niece painting his nails while dressed in a princess costume. In another clip, his daughter can be seen in her ballerina outfit.
Away from acting, Sumpter has opened up about what makes his life feel complete. In one social media post, he wrote: "I’m a blessed man. An actor, a horse cutter, a horse lover, a father, a girl dad. This video represents what happiness looks like for me. Love all of y'all. Thanks for sticking with me over all the years!"
