Peter Andre Responds to Age Gap Critics After Announcing Fifth Child

Peter Andre has addressed criticism over the age gap with his children after announcing he and his wife Emily are expecting their third child together. The 50-year-old singer shared the news on Instagram, posting a photo of the couple holding a baby scan with the caption: 'We are delighted to share the news with you all. A new addition to our family in 2024. The kids are so excited. So are we.'

The couple already have two children: Amelia, nine, and Theo, six. Peter also has two older children from his previous marriage to Katie Price: Junior, 18, and Princess, 16. Princess reacted to the news with a simple comment: 'Congratulations [red heart emoji].' This comes after Junior expressed concerns in 2021 about the age gap, saying he did not want any more siblings as he feared the bond would not be as strong.

In a 2021 interview with OK! Magazine, Junior said: 'I think the age gap would be too big. If Emily got pregnant now that means the baby would be born when I’m almost 17 and I don’t think the same strong bond would be there.' At the time, Peter himself had said 'Hell to the no!' when asked about more children, adding: 'I didn’t want to be changing nappies after I’m 50.'

However, last year Peter hinted that he and Emily were reconsidering, telling OK!: 'We do talk about it all the time, but one minute we’re a “yes” and the next we’re a “no”. We love the idea of having one more child, because the two we have together are the most amazing kids.' The couple married in 2015 and have been together since 2012.
