Peter Andre has been flooded with support following a heartbreaking update he provided on social media amid his mother's Alzheimer's battle.
Mother's diagnosis and current condition
The Mysterious Girl singer's mother, Thea, was diagnosed with both Parkinson's and Alzheimer's in 2023. Thea lives in Australia, and Peter regularly shares updates on her condition.
Peter recently told OK! Magazine that he feared it would be his mother's 'last Christmas'. He said: “She’s very delicate. Her Parkinson’s has progressed quite a bit. Her speech is almost gone. She’ll say a word or two. It’s heartbreaking, because she’s our world, our pillar of strength.”
Father's 93rd birthday video
On July 27, Peter posted a video on Instagram of his father, Savvas Andrea, on his 93rd birthday. In the video, Savvas speaks to Peter's sister Debbie about his relationship with Thea, whom Peter chose not to include. “We’ve been together for over 70 years. Only good… It’s a beautiful winter here, fantastic. I wish you [Debbie] reach this age and even longer,” Savvas said.
Peter captioned the post: “This video touches my heart in every way. It’s my dad’s 93rd birthday today. I decided not to show mum in this video because it hurts too much. But I want to thank my sis for sending this. Love you mum and dad so so so much. More than they will ever know. I do speak to them every single day, sometimes twice. I tell them enough how much they mean to me (if it’s ever enough) Thank god for FaceTime. Going to see them and I cannot wait. Να ζήσεις [‘live long’ in Greek] dad.”
