Friends of Paul Flack, the brother of late television presenter Caroline Flack, have expressed their heartbreak following his death at the age of 55. The graphic designer passed away on June 21, just days after his birthday, after being found unresponsive at his home in Norwich. He was rushed to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital but was pronounced dead at 10:44 PM.
Inquest Opened and Police Investigation
An inquest into Paul Flack's death has been opened at Norfolk Coroner's Court, with a full hearing scheduled for October 23. Norfolk Police have described the death as “unexplained” but have stated that there are no suspicious circumstances. Officers responded to a call from the ambulance service regarding concerns for a man in his 50s.
Flackstock Organisers Pay Tribute
Paul's death comes six years after Caroline Flack took her own life at the age of 40 in February 2020. In the wake of the loss, the organisers of Flackstock—a festival established in Caroline's memory to raise awareness for mental health—paid tribute. A statement on Instagram read: “We are beyond heartbroken by Paul Flack’s passing. We loved Paul so deeply, and this news has shattered us all. Paul was funny, kind and loving. He gave the best hugs and had the most brilliant laugh. We will miss him so much.”
Flackstock has been held annually since 2022, aiming to give hope and support those struggling with mental health issues. The organisers added: “Right now, our focus is supporting the Flack family however we can, so please bear with us while we grieve someone we loved so very, very much.” They also encouraged anyone struggling to contact Samaritans on 116 123.
Celebrity Tributes and Paul's Last Post
Stars including Olly Murs and Laura Whitmore posted heartbroken emojis in response to the tribute. Dawn O'Porter wrote, “These messages are so lovely. We love you all so much. Thank you,” while Lizzie Cundy commented, “Heartbreaking…so very sorry.” Zara Holland, who appeared on Love Island in 2015, added, “So sorry for your loss.”
Paul's last Instagram post, shared in August 2020, was dedicated to Caroline with a childhood photo and the words: “This will be my last post here. May those who know feel shame for eternity. Love you Caroline x.”
