Patsy Kensit's age and four famous husbands as Sadie returns to Emmerdale

Patsy Kensit, 58, has returned to Emmerdale as Sadie King, a character she first played in 2004. Sadie arrived by helicopter as the glamorous and devious wife of Jimmy King (Nick Miles), and swiftly threw her weight around within the King family and business empire.

She clashed with Tom King (Kenneth Farrington) and his girlfriend, Charity Tate (Emma Atkins), and pursued a number of illicit liaisons, including with Robert Sugden (then played by Karl Davies) and with Charity's cousin and lover, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley). Sadie sought to sabotage the Kings' new showhome development and conspired with former lover Cain to cause its destruction.

Sadie's return to the Dales

The showhome exploded on the day of its launch and caused the deaths of young mother Dawn Woods (Julia Mallam), pensioner Noreen Bell (Jenny Tomasin), and estate agent David Brown (Peter Alexander). After two years at the Dales, Sadie left in 2006.

She recently returned via helicopter 20 years after her exit, following the news that Jimmy had died in a car accident. She has claimed to have been having an affair with Jimmy behind the back of his beloved wife, Nicola (played by Nicola Wheeler), and is on the hunt for his missing money.

Four famous marriages

Away from the ITV soap, Patsy Kensit has been married four times and enjoyed high-profile relationships. In 1988, Patsy was 20 years old when she first got married to keyboard player Dan Donovan, who was a member of the band Big Audio Dynamite alongside The Clash star Mick Jones. Wedded bliss was short-lived as they divorced three years later.

She went on to marry Simple Minds' lead singer, Jim Kerr, in 1992 and welcomed their son, James, into the world before separating. In 1997, the actress married Oasis singer Liam Gallagher, and the pair had a son, Lennon, before splitting in 2000. Kensit was then wed to Haysi Fantayzee star DJ Jeremy Healy from 2009 to 2010.

In 2023, Patsy was reportedly set to walk down the aisle for the fifth time after getting engaged to her boyfriend, Patric Cassidy, after an alleged five weeks of dating. According to reports, the property tycoon popped the question over dinner in February 2023, after they were introduced through mutual friends only months earlier. Patric got down on one knee in the centre of a love heart made out of red petals on the sand as the sun set behind them.

It was the first time Patsy had ever been pictured with her beau, as she took to social media to share her joy after the romantic engagement. Patsy also gave a glimpse of her engagement ring. In the accompanying caption the soap star simply wrote: "I said yes".

However, the engagement was called off shortly thereafter. Patsy's representatives confirmed that the engagement had come to an end. "I can confirm they have split, and would appreciate that she is given her privacy regarding the matter. She is currently very busy working", a spokesperson for Patsy told The Sun on Sunday. Patsy hasn't confirmed a relationship since.

Career beyond the Dales

Patsy has been in the acting industry since the early 1970s, when she was a child star, and has carved out a successful career ever since. She is currently on-screen as Sadie King in Emmerdale, but it wasn't too long ago she starred in rival BBC soap, EastEnders.

In December 2022, Patsy announced that she was joining EastEnders as Emma Harding, the estranged mum of cancer sufferer Lola Pearce (Danielle Pearce). After being tracked down by Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) and his cousin Billy (Perry Fenwick), Emma arrived in Walford in January 2023 and stayed around until September.

She has starred in a long list of popular television shows, including Holby City, Agatha Raisin, and McDonald & Dodds. Patsy is also no stranger to the big screen with a number of film roles under her belt, including The Great Gatsby, Hanover Street, Lethal Weapon 2, and Shelter Island. She also took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2010, where she finished 7th, and Celebrity Big Brother in 2015. Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV and ITVX.
