Emmerdale fans admit they are "counting down the days" for Sadie King to return as Patsy Kensit gives first glimpse back on set.
Character history and return
Actress Patsy Kensit debuted as Sadie King (Jimmy King's former wife) in Emmerdale back in 2004, before her exit in 2006 which came from her teaming up with Cain Dingle in an attempt to take down her family. However, Cain double-crossed her and off she went. She was Jimmy King's glamorous and scheming wife, before he moved on with Nicola. She had many dramatic storylines, including a house explosion and high-stakes affairs with a young Robert Sugden and Cain Dingle.
Now, after 20 years away from the Dales, Sadie will be returning and hopefully ready to cause some chaos. Patsy shared: "I am really excited to return to Emmerdale. I treasure the years I was here before. Sadie King is a character that I really loved playing. The cast and crew are absolutely brilliant and I am so grateful for the chance to return to the show, it’s absolutely amazing."
Producer's promise and fan reactions
Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw added: "We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Patsy Kensit back to the cast, and crucially to see the iconic Sadie King storm back into the village. Her return will be explosive and guaranteed to shock. Sadie’s seductive demeanour, combined with her utterly ruthless nature, are set to deliver a spectacular and highly dramatic touch of class to the Yorkshire Dales."
Taking to her Instagram, Patsy shared the first glimpse of her return as she posed in the hair and makeup chair on the set of Emmerdale. She penned: "Love you my Scottie B …. A master in the makeup chair… as are all the fab hair and makeup geniuses at Emmerdale." Fans were quick to express their excitement as one user wrote: "Counting down the days till you are back on our screens!!! So excited hope you are having the best time" and another added: "So excited for Sadie's return maybe get together with Kev."
Potential storyline implications
While there has been nothing concrete about what her return will bring, some viewers have already expressed their worries that she'll get between Nicola and Jimmy's relationship. This theory became popular after Emmerdale revealed that Kev Barton (formerly Townsend) is due to develop an unlikely friendship with Nicola, who is currently not impressed with Kev's return. Producer Laura Shaw explained: "As we know, Nicola has taken on a motherly role with Lewis, so we will be seeing more of her and Kev. Later on in the year, Nicola's going to have a few troubles of her own that Kev is going to be supportive with…"
