Paris Jackson Skips Michael Jackson Biopic Premiere Amid Legal Battle

Paris Jackson was notably absent from the premiere of the Michael Jackson biopic at The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, while other family members attended. Her brother Bigi also stayed home, though Prince Jackson, 29, who worked as a producer, appeared on the red carpet alongside Marlon, La Toya, Jermaine, Jackie Jackson and Austin Brown.

The 28-year-old is currently locked in a legal battle with the executors of her father's estate, which she accused in 2025 of mishandling money. The estate is estimated to be worth around $2 billion. Executors John Branca and John McClain have denied all allegations.

The biopic, directed by Antoine Fuqua, stars Jackson's nephew Jaafar in the lead role. It has been in production since 2019 and cost an estimated $155 million. Variety reported that the estate paid at least $10 million to $15 million for reshoots to remove any reference to child abuse allegations. A Lionsgate spokesperson told the New York Times that a 1994 settlement prohibited mentioning Jordan Chandler, leading to substantial footage being scrapped.

Paris previously distanced herself from the film, stating on social media that she read an early draft and gave notes, but when they were not addressed, she moved on. She alleged the narrative is controlled and contains inaccuracies and lies. Colman Domingo, who plays Joe Jackson, had said Paris and Prince were supportive, but Paris refuted this, saying she had zero involvement.
