Sharon Osbourne has broken her silence to acknowledge the wave of tributes following the death of her husband, rock legend Ozzy Osbourne. The Black Sabbath frontman died on Tuesday at the age of 76 at the family’s Grade II listed mansion in Buckinghamshire, surrounded by Sharon and four of his six children.
A final video of Ozzy, filmed just two days before his death, has surfaced. Shared by daughter Kelly on Instagram, the clip shows Ozzy sitting at the kitchen table with Kelly and her two-year-old son Sidney. Wearing headphones and reading a newspaper, he looks up and offers a cheerful “Good morning” after being greeted.
Sharon, 72, responded to several condolence messages on social media, including from musician Gavin Rossdale, who described Ozzy as “a great man – a true legend”. She also thanked BBC Radio 1 DJ Jack Saunders for his tribute, writing: “Jack thank you for your tribute to Ozzy tonight, bless you.”
The family said Ozzy’s final moments were “surrounded by love”. It was revealed that an air ambulance was called to the mansion on the day he died, landing in a nearby field to “provide advanced critical care” for the star.
Ozzy, who rose from a working-class upbringing in Birmingham to become an iconic figure in heavy metal, had faced significant health challenges in recent years. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2003, made public in 2020, and underwent multiple operations after a 2019 fall. He was also hospitalised with COVID-19 in 2022.
