Oti Mabuse has spoken candidly about her pregnancy after announcing that she is expecting her second child. The former Strictly professional shared the news on Instagram on Thursday (June 11), telling fans that she and husband Marius Iepure - who already share a two-year-old daughter - were expanding their family. She later appeared on ITV's Loose Women, where she regularly features on the panel, and told how she had managed to conceal it from her co-presenters.
The dancer revealed to Kaye Adams, Denise Welsh, Judi Love, and Sunetra Sarker that she had been struggling with morning sickness while attempting to keep her pregnancy under wraps, reports the Mirror. As Oti joined the programme via video link from Italy, where she is currently filming, Kaye remarked: "Now listen, I've got a bone to pick with you."
Chuckling, Oti responded: "I know... because I remember when I was there last week, you were like, 'So when are you going to do the second baby?' And I was like, 'It's coming, it's coming!'" She continued: "Do you know what? Actually, because I was on Loose Women and my husband was there, and I just filmed the show, and he said to me, 'Babe, I'm going to be honest with you. You just filmed the show with Kaye and Jane Moore. I don't think you can hide it from them.' Like, he's shifting a little bit to the left, to the right, it's so obvious."
Oti, who confirmed she was four months pregnant, revealed she'd experienced "loads" of morning sickness and that she had been dealing with it when appearing on the panel with her fellow Loose Women colleagues. She said: "Sometimes I'd just be quiet on the panel just to make sure that the nausea goes away. I drank loads of peppermint tea. That was my thing. And ginger tea. Yeah. The first trimester was hard, but, like anything, you get over it sometime. So yeah, I survived it."
"It's wonderful, wonderful news and well done for keeping the secret," Kaye said. Oti revealed her pregnancy on Instagram, posting several photographs showing her baby bump while her husband held a scan image. "Plot twist," she wrote. "We thought we had our hands full already, but life had even bigger plans. Baby No 2 is joining the dance party, and our hearts (and house) are about to get a whole lot fuller."
