Olly Murs has revealed that becoming a father has transformed his outlook on life. The 41-year-old singer, who shares daughter Madison and son Albert with wife Amelia Tank, said parenthood “really puts things into perspective even more”. He has vowed to be a “present father” and “present husband” this year, focusing on family rather than music or touring.
Since marrying personal trainer Amelia in 2023, the couple welcomed Madison in April 2024 and Albert last September. Murs admitted he changed “a lot” after his son’s birth. Speaking exclusively to the Mirror, the ‘Dear Darling’ hitmaker said 2025 would be a quieter professional year, with “restless nights” but also time for “side projects” and enjoying a break.
Murs, who first shot to fame as runner-up on The X Factor in 2009, reflected on his journey from working at a recruitment agency to international stardom. Driving past his old workplace recently, he said a “cloud of emotion” reminded him never to go back. “I don’t ever want to go back to that,” he said, stressing the importance of staying humble and grateful.
The father-of-two insisted he remains the same “regular lad” he was at 25, thanks to the people around him. He is recording his career for his children to understand its “magnitude” when they are older. This year, his daughter Maddi will watch him play at Soccer Aid – a moment he described as “pretty cool”.
