Made in Chelsea star Ollie Locke has described the terrifying moment his premature baby son was rushed to intensive care after he stopped breathing. The 36-year-old reality star and his husband Gareth welcomed twins Apollo Magnus Obi and Cosima Emily Bex via surrogate earlier this year, but their son faced a traumatic start to life.
Speaking on the Boots presents Taboo Talk podcast, Ollie revealed that just hours after Apollo's birth, they received a phone call at 4:30am to say he was not doing well. The baby was taken by ambulance from Durham to Sunderland with blue lights on after he stopped breathing. 'It was one of those moments in life that you never want,' Ollie said, describing it as one of the hardest moments of his life.
Once at hospital, doctors inserted a tube into Apollo's throat and lungs, but the baby defiantly pulled it out and began breathing on his own. Ollie recalled his son's stubborn personality, calling him 'a real pain in the a***' but noting that his daughter Cosima is much more chilled. Apollo made a full recovery from the health battle.
Since becoming a father, Ollie has quit Made in Chelsea to document his parenting journey on a YouTube series called Daddy Diaries. He has been open about the challenges of fatherhood, including sleepless nights and the emotional toll of caring for twins.
Ollie told OK! magazine that while the twins are 'the best thing to ever happen to us', the lack of maternity and paternity leave has been difficult. He admitted to crying relentlessly while holding Cosima two weeks ago, saying, 'I have never loved anything yet hated it so much – that is the reality of parenting.'
