Chart-topper Olivia Rodrigo says she felt haunted by spirits while making her latest pop video and found the whole experience creepy. However, it's nothing new for the star as she claims to live with a friendly ghost at home.
Haunted at Versailles
Olivia is on course for another number one with her acclaimed third album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. One of the album's highlights is the song Drop Dead, accompanied by a music video shot at the Palace of Versailles just outside of Paris. The 403-year-old lodging was built by King Louis XIII and is considered one of the most haunted places in France.
Olivia revealed: It was so incredible. I cannot believe that they let me film there. It was really wild. It started as a pipe dream of maybe one day visiting Versailles, and it turned into us having the palace all night and filming a whole video. It was really, really special.
However, prancing around a palace may look fun, but at night things got a little spooky. She said: It was a little creepy. I kind of believe in ghosts, and I feel like if I were a ghost, I would probably want to haunt the halls of Versailles.
The Palace of Versailles is widely rumoured to be haunted by former royals, most notably King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. Olivia added: I definitely felt some spirits there.
Living with a Friendly Ghost
It is not her first run-in with the paranormal. The Glastonbury headliner has to deal with a poltergeist on a daily basis back home. She said: I am living in a haunted house right now. But it is fine. I love the ghost. A super nice, friendly ghost.
She explained a recent incident: My friend was in there alone one time and tried to mess with me. She held the phone up to the TV and said, 'Ghost, if you are in here, turn the TV on for Olivia.' Nothing happened. Then at 10 o'clock at night, the TV started blaring an old Turner classic movie from the 1950s at full volume. She ran out, so scared.
The singer is okay with it because she believes they get along: It has never happened to me because I am respectful. My mum knows a lot about the ghost's backstory, but I prefer not to know. I hope I am not doing any juju saying this. Peace and love to the ghost. I love living in my house.
