Olivia Jade Giannulli, the daughter of actress Lori Loughlin and fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, has publicly apologised for her family's involvement in the college admissions scandal. In her first interview on the Facebook Watch show Red Table Talk, the 21-year-old social media influencer expressed remorse, stating she wanted to 'learn from the mistake'.
Loughlin and her husband were jailed after paying $500,000 to secure places for Olivia Jade and her sister Isabella at the University of Southern California. Loughlin began a two-month sentence in October, while her husband started a five-month term last month. Olivia Jade said she had been unable to speak to her parents due to coronavirus quarantine restrictions.
During the interview, she acknowledged that she did not initially realise her parents were breaking the law, as she knew other families who had made similar donations. She now feels embarrassed by her privileged upbringing and has been working with disadvantaged schoolchildren in Los Angeles since the controversy.
Olivia Jade lost brand deals and left university following the scandal. She said she wants a second chance and does not want pity, emphasising that she recognises her family's mistake and hopes to learn from it.
