Offset, a member of the hip-hop trio Migos, has been shot outside a casino in Florida, just three years after the tragic death of his bandmate Takeoff. The rapper, whose real name is Kiari Cephus, is currently in hospital and reported to be in a stable condition.
Takeoff, whose real name was Kirshnik Khari Ball, was fatally shot at a bowling alley in Houston, Texas, in November 2022. He was 28 years old. The incident occurred around 2.30am following an argument over a dice game, with his manager attributing the death to a stray bullet and senseless violence. Takeoff was pronounced dead at the scene, and his uncle and fellow Migos member Quavo was with him at the time.
Migos, consisting of Quavo, his nephew Takeoff, and their friend Offset, achieved international fame with their 2016 hit single Bad and Boujee, which reached number one in the US and the top 30 in the UK. The group also featured on Calvin Harris's 2017 track Slide, which made the UK top 10, and accumulated four top 10 hits in the US between 2016 and 2018.
A spokesperson for Offset confirmed the shooting, stating: “We can confirm Offset was shot and is currently at the hospital receiving medical care. He is stable and being closely monitored.” Offset is father to three children with his ex-wife, rapper Cardi B, who is among those who have publicly expressed support.
