Coldplay's Chris Martin has opened up about his friendly relationship with Liam Gallagher, sparking rumours of a potential collaboration that have sent Oasis fans into a frenzy. Speaking to NME, Martin revealed that the Oasis frontman is 'always free to come round my house for tea and we’ll have lasagne,' referencing the lyrics to Oasis's 'Digsy's Dinner'.
The 'Yellow' singer confessed that his band doesn't do 'beef', even after Liam once compared him to a geography teacher and a vicar. However, the two appeared on good terms when they performed 'Live Forever' at Ariana Grande's One Love Manchester concert in 2017, with Gallagher later taking back 'everything I ever said about you'.
Martin expressed his excitement about the Oasis reunion, saying it 'showed what music is all about' and exists 'to make people happy'. He also apologised for his lack of public spats, admitting he tried beef once in 2000 with Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie and still feels terrible about it.
Elsewhere in the interview, Martin confirmed Coldplay plan to end their catalogue after 12 albums, with the 2025 deadline extended. Their upcoming UK stadium shows, including a record-breaking 10-night run at Wembley, will see 10 per cent of profits go to the Music Venue Trust.
