Oasis star Noel Gallagher, 58, recently enjoyed a two-hour private appointment at celebrity perfume designer Azzi Glasser's London atelier to stock up on luxury fragrances and scented candles. The rock legend, known for his straight-talking attitude, has a surprisingly good nose for posh perfumes, according to Glasser.
During the £1,500 appointment, Gallagher fell for Glasser's £259 Mystere Vetivert, which she describes as "really sensual, richer than rich, really dapper." The fragrance contains cypress, laurel leaf, violet leaf, smoky vetivert, sequoia, clarysage, and an "animalistic base" of black oudh and musk. He also chose Tuscan Suede, described as "classic, sophisticated and romantic."
Gallagher also snapped up several scented candles at £65 each, including Black Moss, Fig Ambrette, Rain on Earth, and Chiltern Firehouse, which he uses at home. Black Moss is infused with patchouli, which encourages the release of happy hormones when breathed in. Rain on Earth was originally commissioned by former Prime Minister David Cameron for the Great British Festival of Creativity in 2012.
Glasser, whose Perfumer's Story label is also loved by Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, said Gallagher is a very loyal customer. "With Noel, what you see on the outside is not always what you see on the inside," she said. "He's got a good nose. He's quite intelligent on that front - he knows his candle scents and he wants his house to smell good."
