'Noah' Free on Pluto TV Until August 31

Darren Aronofsky's biblical epic 'Noah,' starring Russell Crowe, is now available to stream for free on Pluto TV until August 31. The 2014 film grossed over $359 million (£267 million) worldwide, making it Aronofsky's highest-grossing film to date. Despite its commercial success, the movie sparked controversy and was banned in several Muslim countries due to its depiction of prophets.

A Star-Studded Cast and Critical Praise

The film features an ensemble cast including Russell Crowe as Noah, alongside Jennifer Connelly, Ray Winstone, Anthony Hopkins, and Emma Watson. Critics praised the performances, with many highlighting Watson's role as her best outside the 'Harry Potter' series. The role of Noah was originally offered to Christian Bale and Michael Fassbender, but both had to decline due to prior commitments.

Audience Reactions: A Divisive but Epic Experience

On Rotten Tomatoes, one viewer noted: 'Anyone expecting a faithful biblical epic will be disappointed. Darren Aronofsky has opted to go in a different direction, for better or worse. It is quite an arresting spectacle featuring marvellous performances.' Another fan on IMDb called it a 'miracle of biblical proportions,' adding: 'It's awesome and rocks, and it certainly deviates from what you might have covered in Sunday School. But boy, is it ever interesting—and well worth seeing.'

Director's Bold Interpretation

Aronofsky's take on the story of Noah's Ark diverges significantly from traditional biblical accounts, incorporating fantastical elements and environmental themes. Crowe told Collider at the time of release: 'Everybody has images in their mind when they hear 'Noah', and none of this matches up to that. None of it at all. There's a lot of reading, actually, about pre-diluvial human life, and it's quite enlightening.'
