Nicole Kidman Attends Mother's Funeral in Sydney with Family

Nicole Kidman was surrounded by her loved ones as she said a final goodbye to her mother Janelle, who died last month at the age of 84. The Babygirl actress, 57, attended the funeral at St Francis Xavier Church in Lavender Bay, Sydney, on Tuesday, supported by her husband Keith Urban and their daughters Sunday Rose, 16, and Faith Margaret, 14.

The couple looked somber as they held hands, both wearing dark sunglasses. Nicole wore a long black coat, while her daughter Sunday appeared particularly grief-stricken and was seen wiping away tears during the emotional service.

Also in attendance were Nicole's sister Antonia, 54, and her children with her late husband Angus Hawley: Lucia, 26, Hamish, 23, and Sybella, 17.

Nicole broke her silence over her mother's death on September 13, thanking fans for their support on Instagram. She wrote: 'My sister and I along with our family want to thank you for the outpouring of love and kindness we have felt this week. Every message we have received from those who loved and admired our Mother has meant more to us than we will ever be able to express.'

She had first shared the news of Janelle's sudden death at the Venice International Film Festival, where she won Best Actress for Babygirl but left before accepting the award. Her director Halina Reijn accepted on her behalf, reading a statement in which Nicole said: 'I am in shock, and I have to go to my family, but this award is for her, she shaped me, she guided me, and she made me.'

Janelle's death is not the first sudden loss Nicole has faced; her father died in 2014, and she previously spoke of her fear of losing loved ones unexpectedly. In a 2020 interview, she said: 'I've had it happen repeatedly… I get terrified it's going to happen again.'
