Nicole Kidman has announced a new television project, a legal thriller titled 'Discretion,' which has been acquired by Paramount+ after a reported bidding war. Based on Chandler Baker's short story of the same name, the eight-episode series is set to begin filming in 2026.
Kidman will star alongside Elle Fanning, with both also serving as executive producers. The pair previously appeared together in Sofia Coppola's 'The Beguiled' and 'How to Talk to Girls at Parties,' both released in 2017. They are also set to feature in David E. Kelley's 'Margo's Got Money Trouble' for Apple TV+ in 2026.
According to the logline, the series follows Lenny (Fanning), a summer associate at a prestigious Dallas law firm, who uncovers a web of non-disclosure agreements masking a dark truth. When she realises she has signed the same agreement, her discoveries put her in the crosshairs of the firm's most powerful female partner, Sharon (Kidman), upending their mentor-protégé dynamic.
The news comes as Kidman is reportedly divorcing Keith Urban after almost 20 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple have been living separately for several months and share two children, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. The actress has remained busy with several projects, including 'The Perfect Couple,' 'Nine Perfect Strangers,' and 'Lioness,' all produced by her company Blossom Films.
Kidman recently wrapped 'Practical Magic 2,' while the third season of 'Big Little Lies' is in production. She will also star as the title character in the Prime Video crime drama series 'Scarpetta.'
