Mariah Carey gives blunt response on co-parenting with Nick Cannon

Mariah Carey has offered a candid take on co-parenting with her ex-husband, Nick Cannon, saying she prefers not to talk about him. The singer appeared on CBS Mornings on Wednesday to promote her first album in seven years, Here for It All, and was asked by Gayle King how she manages raising their 14-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe.

“I kind of feel like it’s best if I don’t talk about him, because he can just be in his own world,” Carey said. “No offense to him.” The couple divorced in 2016, and since then Cannon has fathered ten more children with five other women.

Carey previously told Harper’s Bazaar in July that she tries to be fair about the situation, acknowledging that it is “tough to grow up with divorced parents.” Meanwhile, Cannon has expressed reservations about the term “co-parenting,” saying on his podcast last month that labels can do more harm than good.

Cannon, who has 12 children in total, said he approaches each relationship with “respect and compassion” and does not group the mothers together. However, he admitted that the six mothers do not get along, noting, “Do you know six women anywhere that get along?”
